David was born in Toronto, but once he was old enough to realize his mistake, moved his family West to Edmonton, where he has remained for most of his life. He’s enjoyed a career spanning thirty years of the product life cycle, from applied research, product design and development, manufacturing, and destruction with service in the air force.
David has Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta. After his military service, he worked with manufacturers of windows and curtain walls, water treatment equipment, and downhole pumps. He also spent a few years in education, teaching at NAIT and the University of Alberta.
In 2007, he started Caprica Consulting, specializing in manufacturing and productivity improvement. In 2011, he bought half of Karma Machining and Manufacturing, and in 2018, spun out Karma Medical Products to develop and market a new hand and wrist rehabilitation device.
David enjoys all of Edmonton’s seasons with his wife and three daughters, and whenever possible (which is never enough), he likes alpine skiing and flying small airplanes.
